Batteries and Battery Chargers are a major concern with our customers and MFI.
For this reason we have placed the following information on this page.
Knowledge is key to understanding what you are buying.

Batteries: Airsoft BB Guns use batteries are 90% of the time specific in shape, size and voltage in order for them to fit inside the specific weapon. There are currently 4 different shapes / sizes that conform to fit into the inner compartments of our bb guns. When we talk about batteries we are talking about ONLY batteries that are RECOMMENDED by the manufactures of the airsoft weapons... NOT some AFTER MARKET SUBSTANDARD or INCORRECT VOLTAGE product.

Large batteries utilize a LARGE CONNECTOR.

Mini, AK and SD batteries share the same size of connector (MINI CONNECTOR), but have different shapes / configurations so that they fit inside the confines of the product.

SPECIAL NOTE: The biggest complaint in the airsoft industry these days that MFI hears at least twice per day is the supplying of substandard "El Cheepo" generic batteries with electric guns. This is a common practice of ripping off the customer by unscrupulous vendors. These vendors can offer lower prices as they supply substandard batteries (Non OME "ORIGINAL MANUFACTURE EQUIPMENT"). MFI could also buy these junk batteries ($2.75 to $4.00) that last only 2-4 months, but that would be a HUGE DISSERVICE to our long time loyal customers and in the end only HURT OUR 15+ YEAR REPUTATION in the airsoft industry.

TOP QUALITY may at first appear to costs extra, but if you do the math... MFI / OME BATTERIES will be trouble free for 3-4 years at a cost of $45.00. Compare that to replacing your battery (that does NOT look like the above photo) that you got somewhere else EVERY 6 months at a cost of $25.00 each time for the same time period. Yes you just wasted $100.00.

Do not get us wrong... We are not saying that MFI is the only supplier of GENUINE RECOMMENDED TOKYO MARUI BATTERIES. If they have the Marui label and correct coloration as the photo above they are good as what we sell. What we are saying is that we have been in the industry a very long time. Likely 13+ years longer than any other reseller. If there was a cheaper product that performed as well we would sell it. Fact is there is NOT one available. The only GENERIC batteries we offer are actually made using the same cells as Marui in the same facility.

REST ASSURED that MFI supplies only OME batteries or Generic versions made under license of Tokyo Marui in the exact same battery factories that make Marui's using the exact same tooling and top quality cells as they do for Marui OME. There is a significant cost difference and a very good reason why MFI & Marui recommend using ONLY OME Spec batteries and chargers as substandard equipment can permanently damage your costly airsoft gun. Genuine Tokyo Marui or MFI Generic batteries are good for 2.75+ years at a minimum. In short you get what you pay for...

MAJOR MISCONCEPTIONS:

  1. A HIGHER VOLTAGE battery will make my gun more POWERFUL... WRONG! Fact is that ALL OME batteries for TM are 8.4 Volts. Higher voltage will ONLY make your motor turn at a higher RPM. Motors have ZERO to do with power of the gun. Power can ONLY be increased by either larger pistons (ours are already as large as physically possible) or higher compression ratio (via stronger spring) which will result in damaged / problematic gear boxes. The increased RPM will increase the rate of fire of your weapon which means instead of 700 rounds per minute you are shooting 900+ per minute. Increased rate of fire (which the gun, motor, gears & lubricant were NEVER intended to handle) WILL OVER HEAT your gear box which WILL result in the grease that lubricates your gears to LIQUIFY and flow out of the gear box or cause it to LOOSE VISCOSITY. Both of these will result in FRIED GEARS as the lubricant is REQUIRED to keep your gun functioning. The only legitimate reason for higher voltage is if the upgraded motor / gear box (After market not OEM) requires more volts to turn it. Any other claim is just plain stupid.

  2. FAST CHARGERS ARE OK... WRONG... Fact is that ideally you want a 10-12 hour charge which is considered SLOW CHARGERS which is what is RECOMMENDED BY ALL AIRSOFT MANUFACTURES. This is what MFI supplies you with. An 8.4 volt battery should use a charger that is outputting 10.5 to 13 volts. Higher voltage output will DECREASE the LONGEVITY of the life of the battery. Use of a charger that outputs 19+ volts will burn out your cells faster meaning that your 2.75+ year life span just dropped to 6-9 months.

  3. I NEED TO BUY A HIGHER AMPERAGE BATTERY SO THAT I GET MORE SHOTS PER CHARGE.

    There are several problem here...

  4. IT IS BEST TO DISCHARGE THE BATTERY EVERY TIME I CHARGE... WRONG... Basically Ni-Cad technology REQUIRES MEMORY to be built up in order for the battery to get the OPTIMAL / MAXIMUM of available AMPs out of it. Every time you discharge you wipe out the memory that adds more shots. We do recommend that you discharge all your batteries (no matter when you bought the) twice per year. On January 1st and on June 1st. This way you do not have to remember when you bought a battery and it will keep the memory for becoming a problem. In short battery memory is both good and bad. WE SELL BATTERY DISCHARGERS WHICH IS THE ONLY WAY TO PROPERLY DISCHARGE YOUR BATTERY.

  5. I CAN USE AN ORIGINAL TOKYO MARUI BATTERY CHARGER IN THE USA... Sure if you want to potentially SET YOUR HOUSE ON FIRE. No one in the USA should use a Marui Charger. These chargers are rated for only 90-100 volts and when plugged into standard US 110-120 volt outlets can result in a serious fire hazard.

  6. TOKYO MARUI MINI BATTERY CONNECTORS ARE AVAILABLE AT RADIO SHACK... Well at least NOT any Radio Shack in the USA. The mini connectors found on 90% of the Marui guns and batteries are special proprietary connectors made especially for Marui. As MFI is part of the TM Team we have access to connectors (See below). They are cheap and very practical in repairs of conversions / adapters from Mini to Large battery applications.

ELECTRICAL / PLUGS & CONNECTORS:

Read this section carefully and choose the correct plug you need. Tokyo Marui does not have a standard wiring set up for every gun they sell. If you bought your gun from MFI we will know for sure what parts you might need to make the appropriate wiring harness. If you did not get it from MFI you must specify exactly what you need as only you will know for sure by looking at your gun. We carry both PRE-MOUNTED PLUGS as well as UN-MOUNTED PLUGS & TERMINALS. The pre-mounted plugs come with wires that you would have to slice to with solderless connectors or hard wire them. This method is idiot proof as the wires are color-coded. These can work well if you do it correctly. We also carry UN-MOUNTED PLUGS; un-mounted means you get the outer plastic shell (plug) and 2 metal terminals. This will make your wiring harness look like the original without any splices or connectors. You will simply buy your own wire, crimp the terminals in place and push into the plastic housing. This way you have all the flexibility in the wire without any hard connectors or splices. Real professional job.
