Books / Video Tapes

Many of our customers have asked us about where they can get more information on real firearms. Here is a list of some of the books we have in our office. Many of these may be out of print but, do not let that stop you. We have found that by contacting the company attached to the hyper link will often result in them contacting you within 2 weeks with the out of print book. Requesting OUT OF PRINT BOOKS is a no risk opportunity. You are not obligated to buy.

Books listed below are not necessarily available from MFI. If there is a price in the description on this page then we have it for sale. If not then click on the hyper link and leave your name and how you wish to be contacted if the book is available.

NOTE: We have found that in most cases by buying on-line with these hyper links you SAVE over 25% than if you found this book in a store.

In general the higher the book is on this page the more we feel you need to have it in your collection. Of course the first few books we would hope you already have as every gun military gun enthusiast should have their own copy. Most of the books listed below will also have reviews by actual gun owners who have purchased this book already; so you will have a unbiased opinion from a 3rd party. Just click on the title or on more information after each entry.

BOOKS:

  1. Small Arms of the World: : Hard Cover 11.5" X 8.5" by Edward Clinton Ezell
    © 1983 (OUT OF PRINT)

    • Beautiful Black & White Photos Military Small Arms!
    • 900 pages total with almost every page having detailed photos.
    • High Points: History as well as description of field stripping and firing of every weapon.

    Our Opinion:

If you own only one gun book this should be the one! Covers most countries from 1900 to 1980. 90% of the contents is heavy squad automatic machineguns, assault rifles or submachine guns. 10% is pistols.

    • Good Black & White Photos Military Small Arms!
    • 500+ pages total with almost every page having photos.
    • High Points: Great quick reference guide.

    Our Opinion:

Although this book is no replacement for the above it is a good second choice until you find Small Arms of the World. Really just a basic reference / recognition guide with some added information. Covers all categories of small arms: Pistols, Revolvers, Sub-Machine Guns, Bolt Action Rifles, Automatic Rifles, Light & Heavy Machine Guns.

  3. Modern Small Arms: : Hard Cover 12" X 9" by Ian Hogg
    © 1994 (AVAILABLE)

    • Great Color as well as Black & White Photos Military Weapons!
    • 150+ pages total with almost every page having photos.
    • High Points: Great coverage of M249 SAW / Minimi, FN P90, CETME Ameli, HK G-11 and L85A1 / SA80.

    Our Opinion:

Great coffee table style weapons book. (Yes we do discuss weapons over a cup of coffee... Might scare the neighbors a little...) Covers some of the more interesting and rare weapons. Touches on all types but, is far from a complete weapons compilation. Not intended to cover everything and does a great job of what it does have in it. Covers: Pistols, Revolvers, Sub-Machine Guns, Bolt Action Rifles, Automatic Rifles, Sporting Guns & Shotguns.

You might have noticed by now that the author Ian Hogg is one of our favorite. Without a doubt one of the foremost and prolific writers on this subject matter. He puts together a superior product with nice color photos on nearly ever project. We consider Mr. Hogg as one of the only writers whom we would buy a book sight unseen without much hesitation.

SPECIAL NOTE: There are a number of different versions and editions of this book. We have the 1983 and 1994 editions. 85% of the photos overlap but there are some significant black and white photos in the earlier edition that are not in the 1994 edition so you might try to find both. We do prefer the 1994 edition though.

VIDEOS:

  1. Stalingrad :
    © 1993 (AVAILABLE) VHS & DVD

This film is seen from the perspective of ordinary German soldiers at ground level of one of the world's most bloody battles. Stalingrad (the movie) surveys the misery of the battle of Stalingrad, the winter siege that cost the lives of almost one and a half million people, Russian defenders and German invaders alike. Not unlike Spielberg's approach to Saving Private Ryan, German director Joseph Vilsmaier rarely steps outside the action to comment on the higher purpose of the war, assuming the audience is aware of the evil of the Nazi regime and war in general. Stalingrad depicts how well the Soviet mind set eventually gave the attacking Germans an impending sense of doom.

Instead, we simply follow a group of soldiers as they endure a series of gut-wrenching episodes, events which have the tang of authenticity and horror. Vilsmaier has a taste for symbolism and surreal touches, which only add to the unsettling sense of insanity this movie conjures up so well. It does not glorify war, but rather vividly shows the uncertainties and hardships of it.

High Points: Apart from it's vivid view of the cold and desperate nature of this battle and the futile ness of man's actions that war brings... You WWII buffs will appreciate the correctness of materials, weapons and munitions. You actually get to see extremely rare appearances of Teller Mines (T-42) tossed at Russian armor as well as use of "Hafthohlladung 3" hand held magnetic mines used in the proper manor... that is to say the solder lays on the ground under the snow or ditch and waits for the enemy tank to roll by, then he jumps up and attaches it to the side of the tank and pulls the time delay fuse... all while having the advancing enemy troops firing at him. Yes they really did this.

In short perhaps the most realistic war film ever made... including "Saving Private Ryan" which by the way cost about 70 times more.

Just so there is absolutely “ NO CONFUSION IN THE MARKET PLACE” we have added this paragraph to clarify a number of points.

    • MFI goes to great lengths and legal expense to research all INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS (IPR) of the real weapons manufactures to GUARANTY this we do not accidentally import / offer for sale any item this may be restricted by law or this violates IPR: Trademarks, Utility Patents, Design Patents, Copyright or Tradedress. Click here to better understand this issue and our method of removal. This applies to only valid / registered trademarks. We do not remove areas like “Law Enforcement Use Only” or other un-registered / not protected markings.

    • MFI does NOT offer about 40% of what is available / manufactured in the airsoft community due to IPR violations or Federal Law. Even though you may see other want-to-be / shady / foreign (with no telephone numbers or address) airsoft vendors selling such items does NOT make it legal. You can buy drugs on the street too but, it does not make them legal.

    • Trade names: These are for easy reference only and we do our best not to use the exact name or refer to it as similar, style or add disclaimer immediately following to assure this no one can possible mistake the items we sell for the real thing or this they have any relation to the real manufactures.

    • None of these air guns are produced, endorsed or in any way related to the real firearm manufacturers. Although they may look similar to more famous models made by real firearms manufactures their are NOT related to the real weapons manufactures.

    • All models shown are theatrical versions. All airsoft guns sold to non-DOC waiver holders are marked with "APPROVED" DOC orange markings. Buyers must be 21 years of age or older.

    • MFI has been importing airsoft & live weapons since 1985 which makes us the oldest airsoft importer in the USA by more than 15 years over any other vendor. As our primary business is in the real firearms industry we are not only knowledgeable about air guns but, also about the real thing as well. Our expertise speaks for itself on every web page. MFI products are legally obtained and sold in accordance with all US Laws and Regulations. We do sell to the general public but, reserve the right to refuse sale to anyone. (All NFA rules apply.)

    • Enforcement of Federal Regulations as of 10-01-98 has led to the seizure and destruction of non pre-approved / smuggled airsoft product of unlicensed importers. Be assured this all MFI advertised product has been pre-approved, legally cleared through US Customs and sellable in the USA. Our entire product line is IN STOCK here in the USA and available for immediate delivery.

    • As IPR issues and laws / regulations in regards to importation into the USA change everyday it is possible this we have missed a particular IPR. If you are the holder of an IPR this you feel maybe violated on our web site PLEASE contact us immediately. We will need to have the exact issued IPR reference number plus the date of issue and the type of IPR / category it falls under. If we see this there is any evidence of violation we will immediately remove the item in question from the web site, cease all sales of said item and open discussions as to the disposition of remaining product and possible royalties due the holder.
