Many of you have seen this style of silencer in Motion Pictures or on the TV News, as they are used by the US Armed Forces World Wide. As MFI is a Military Contractor we have the real thing here to take all the correct measurements off to assure as close a match as possible. The only areas where we deviate from the original is in length (obviously we need to cover as much of your barrel as possible) and the lettering is changed slightly so as not to violate Knights Armament Intellectual Property Rights.

What make the MFI SOCOM Fake Silencers (SOCOM MK 23 & USP TACTICAL) UNIQUE for all other real or fake silencers is:

• They are made specifically to take the punishment from LIVE FIRE! Unlike lesser quality mock silencers made for the HK USP Tactical or HK SOCOM Mk. 23 the MFI version ALLOWS the weapon to CYCLE WITHOUT JAMMING WHEN FIRED SHOT AFTER SHOT! Please note that depending on the ammunition that you use the last shot lock back on the slide may or may not be effected.

  While we do NOT have unlimited funds and time to test every ammunition on the market we back up the above statement with a list of types of ammunition that we know for a fact work with this item. We additionally have a list of ammo that we know does NOT allow the weapon to cycle. Remember that even the real Knights Silencer does NOT allow the weapon to cycle unless you buy the special spring set from KA for that silencer. Also in real world applications many operators prefer the weapon NOT to cycle. This allows the silencer to be more efficient and thus quieter as there is no escaping gas from the slide blowing back. Additionally there is no ejected brass left at the seen to suggest that the action was a US Military Operation. We assume that there even more types of ammo that will not work with this item and we relay on our customers feed back to keep us informed.

  The following work 100% / allow the weapon to cycle WITHOUT JAMMING:

  • Speer Gold Dot 45 200 Gr. GDHP +P ACP
  • Remington Golden Saber Gov. Spec. 230 Gr.Brass Jacketed Hollow Point.
  • Remington UMC Gov. Spec. 230 Gr. ACP.
  • CorBen 45 ACP 210 Gr. Gov. Spec.

  Please note that the last 3 on the above list while these are not specifically listed as +P do appear to have a harder kick than standard / non +P ammo. Not being experts in this area we can only guess that the US Gov. Spec. must be a type of hard ball ammo or similar to +P in the powder charge. Thus likely any +P ammunition will work fine.

  The following DO NOT allow the weapon to cycle the second shot:

  • Wolf 45 230 Gr. Copper FMJ (Standard)
  • Hornady TAP 45 ACP 200 Gr.
  • CorBen 45 ACP 200 Gr. (Standard)
  • Remington UMC 200 Gr. ACP. (Standard)

• The LETTERING / MARKINGS are INDEXABLE to the CORRECT POSITION! As you may not realize all threaded barrels and silencers have different starting and ending points on the threads. Thus you could have 5 identical weapons all made at the same time and the same silencer or flash suppressor will NOT end up at the same point on each weapon. This is why you get a peel washer with your AR15 flash suppressor (peels off 10 /1000th of an inch) so you can correctly index your suppressor to the individual weapon.

  So what we are saying is... No matter how many weapons you have... You will ALWAYS be able to get the lettering / U.S. GOV. markings in the exact location that you want them. This is because there is a set screw is hidden in the bottom of the end cap that allows the outer body to rotate 360 degrees around the inner barrel. First tighten the set screw and then thread the fake silencer on your weapon. Then loosen the set screw and continue the rotation as if to tighten / go on direction... Position the Laser Markings to the correct location & re-tighten the set screw. You can screw on & off the Fake Silencer and NEVER have to reset the letters / set screw. Obviously this set up is for an individual / specific weapon so if you move the fake silencer to a different weapon you will most likely have to re-index the outer body again.

This model is very similar to our HK USP Tactical Version. The HK SOCOM Mk. 23 has a 16mm X 1.0 pitch RIGHT HAND threaded barrel where the HK USP TACTICAL has a 16mm X 1.0 pitch LEFT HAND threaded barrel. In order to use either version you MUST HAVE A THREADED BARREL. This model does NOT slip over or hide any of the barrel like our SOCOM UNIVERSAL model does.

Both the SOCOM Mk. 23 & USP TACTICAL Models of FAKE SILENCER have available thread in adapters which do NOT increase barrel length but, rather just reduce the 16mm diameter hole to a smaller hole size for other weapons. We make reducing adapters because dealers and many customers what the ability to buy ONE FAKE SILENCER and any number of adapters so they can more the Fake Silencer from one weapon to another in minutes without the added cost of a second fake silencer.

For example: Lets say you have all of the following:

• HK SOCOM MK. 23 .45 Cal (16mm right hand threaded barrel)

• AR 15 in .223 / 5.56mm (1/2 X 28 right hand threaded barrel)

• AR 15 COLT SMG in 9mm (1/2 X 36 right hand threaded barrel)

• Beretta 92F or Glock 17 both with FAC / Gun & Stuff in .9mm (1/2 X 32 right hand threaded barrels)

• AK-47 in 7.62 X 39 (14mm left hand threaded barrel).

You could buy ONE of the MFI SOCOM MK. 23 Fake Silencers above and 4 EXTRA REDUCING ADAPTERS below and move the Fake Silencer from one weapon to the next in seconds! Saving about $400.00 in the process. Granted all of the reducing adapters will be for extend the barrel versions only, as there is no slip over / hide the barrel option in this case.

Why would you want to use the SOCOM Mk.23 or USP Tactical fake silencer on your AR15 / M16 or AK-47 variants instead of the SOCOM UNIVERSAL fake silencer? These two models are shorter and far lighter than the Universal model. So that is something to consider. I hope it is obvious by this point that if you have an AK-47 with a LEFT HAND THREADED BARREL and you wanted to have the LIGHTEST and SHORTEST Fake Silencer that we sell you would NOT choose the SOCOM Mk. 23 version as it has a RIGHT HAND THREADED BARREL. YOU WOULD CHOOSE THE USP TACTICAL MODEL TO MATCH THREAD DIRECTION. We do make both in an effort for you to save money where ever possible.

O.D. = Outer Diameter, I.D. = Inner Diameter, RH = Right Hand, LT = Left Hand.

Please note that whenever you have an adapter with an O.D. thread that goes in the OPPOSITE DIRECTION as the I.D. thread the two are working against each other and thus when you try to tighten one to the fullest it will loosen the other thread. If you plan to switch back and forth you will either need to live with the fact that you will never get a fully tightened fit or you can permanently attach the adapter to the weapon or to the fake silencer; thus defeating the problem. You can use red or blue lock tight, epoxy or you can weld the adapter (as it is steel) to either the fake silencer or the weapon.

LENGTH OF ADAPTERS: ALL the above adapters when they are inserted into the fake silencer and attached to the weapon add only 2.0mm or about 1/16 of an inch.

All Adapters are made of Weapons Grade Steel. (Except the one for the AK-47 which is brass.) We use the HIGHEST GRADE STEEL AVAILABLE as 90% of our sales are going to Live Weapons owners who prefer to shoot with the fake silencer in place. The steel does two things:

• First it will out last the aluminum version 1000 to 1. Especially important as many of our customers are putting them on Class II & Class III weapons or assault weapons that get a lot of use.

• Second we have had so many requests from customers wishing to PERMANENTLY ATTACH these to their weapons. In most cases customers had 11.5 or 14.5 inch barreled AR15 uppers which they did not wish to paper as an NFA SBR (Short Barrel Rifle). By having a steel adapter they can permanently attach these to their weapon with a common Mig or Tig welder. We made sure that there was enough of the barrel extension sticking out of the knurled part to get a good weld. As the SOCOM MK. 23 Fake Silencer has a slightly longer shank that sticks out you might consider using that model instead of the USP as a 1/4 may make life a lot easier. In either case be sure to look at the over all length of both items as they are slightly different. It is also best to give yourself an added 1/4 of an inch more on length to be sure you are 100% in compliance with the 16 inch minimum length. Just so you know... The BATF measures over all barrel length from the inside with a rod. Measurement is from end of barrel to where the rod hits the face of the bolt in the closed and locked position.

As mentioned perviously the SOCOM FAKE SILENCER for BOTH the HK USP TACTICAL & the HK Mark 23 are a THREAD ON / EXTEND the barrel application ONLY.

As you can also see from the photos both models allow you to use the original sights as like the real Knights Armament silencer the outer diameter does NOT exceed or obstruct the sight picture at all. Other weapons in particular handguns will vary from model to model. There is no way that we can research all handguns so you can take the over all outer diameter listed in this page and divide that in half then take your specific handgun and find the center of the bore and see if the measurement exceeds the top of the sight or not. The reality is that most real effective silencers can not accommodate 90% of the handguns out there in this regards and most users do not care as they have alternative aiming mechanisms (lasers) or use the silencer at point blank range with the mass of the target being pressed up against the end of the silencer, which aids in sound reduction.

In short we have no real way of responding to questions on this topic (short of buying a sample of the 25,000+ handguns made since 1900). This is why we give you the measurements and why we have our RISK FREE 45 DAY RETURN POLICY. Yes you can even shoot through the item and if you are not 100% satisfied you can always return it for a refund.

What we CAN tell you (and this may seem elementary but, we get this question everyday) is that you MUST HAVE A THREADED BARREL in order for this item to attach to your weapon. If you do not have a threaded barrel you can call FAC / Federal Arms Corp / Guns & Stuff (or whatever name they are using) at 800-486-5971. They make threaded barrels for Beretta 92F, Glocks and many others for about $100.00. Just ask for their catalog. MFI does NOT offer, sell or carry any threaded barrels for live weapons.

Materials of construction:

The Outer Body is entirely made out of Aircraft Grade Aluminum. To keep these as LIGHT WEIGHT as possible we use similar methods of construction as the real silencers. The Outer Tubes are made from stamped plate 6061 T-6 aircraft aluminum to allow the extreme radius on the end of the tube to be formed. The knurled part and some internal parts are CNC machined from billet 7170 T-6 aircraft aluminum to assure lightweight and durability.

In complying with BATF in regards to NO ACCESS to the inner cavity / air gap. The Knurled section is PERMANENTLY ATTACHED to the outer body.

The Inner Sleeve / Barrel Extension is made from Weapons Grade Steel to provide the longest life possible for live fire. Additionally the inner sleeve (which the bullet flies through un-obstructed) is sandwiched between the outer body exit hole and the knurled section. This allows the OUTER BODY to ROTATE 360 DEGREES around the inner barrel extension which, give you the ability to get the lettering in the correct position. Being sandwiched between two PERMANENTLY ATTACHED components keeps with the SPIRIT as well as the LETTER of the law. Any tampering with this item to separate the two parts will result in the tearing / destruction of the outer tube. We deliberately use very thing aluminum for the tubes so that they basically self destruct if tampered with.

Maximum Outer Diameter: = 35.0mm or 1.380 inches.

Maximum Inner Diameter: = 1/2 inch / 0.50 inches (12.6mm).

Maximum Length: = 177.1mm or 6 - 7/8 inches.

Weight: 4.8 ounces. Far lighter than any real silencer of the same size.

All outer bodies are marked as you see in these photos. As the markings are very small and thus very difficult to photograph (sorry our digital camera does not have a macro setting for extreme close ups) we have provided you with the exact words below. We have tried to adjust the font size so that it is in the correct /relative ratio as well.

SPECIAL NOTE ON MARKING POSITION: All SOCOM fake silencer markings REGARDLESS of model / version will end up reading left to right from the right hand side of the weapon. (So if you see any photos of SOCOM Fake Silencers with lettering that reads any other way just note that those are obsolete photos.)

The ENTIRE product is acid etched to simulate the special semi anti-glare effect found on the real thing. After the acid etching these are hardened anodized with the same semi flat deep black -blue color that is currently military spec. for the real silencers. All tubes for BOTH VERSIONS are labeled / marked the same (see above for exact markings) per mil. spec. requirements (same method as the originals are marked) via laser etching through the anodization. Just another reason why our silencers are far better than the el-cheepo airsoft versions that use decals or paint that wears off easily for lettering.
