Many of you have seen this style of silencer in Motion Pictures or on the TV News, as they are used by the US Armed Forces World Wide. As MFI is a Military Contractor we have the real thing here to take all the correct measurements off to assure as close a match as possible. The only areas where we deviate from the original is in length (obviously we need to cover as much of your barrel as possible) and the lettering is changed slightly so as not to violate Knights Armament Intellectual Property Rights.
ADAPTER SYSTEM:
How this works is that no matter what your application is you will receive the same outer body as you see in the above photo. All outer bodies are marked as you see in these photos. All outer bodies have a ¾ inch hole bored out from front to back. In this hole slides our adapter which has a 3/4 inch outer diameter. The inner diameter at the end nearest the front site will have thread in it to accommodate your specific weapon. The inner diameter of the EXIT end for all adapters is 1/2 inch. So this 1/2 exit hole basically necks down the larger 3/4 inch diameter of the OUTER BODY down to a more believable exit hole for a silencer. Both the outer body and adapter are finished in the same way to match 100% which give you a very clean finished look. All outer bodies have a total of 9 set screws in them that are arranged in a semi triangle pattern. This pattern allows you to center your barrel (important only on smaller diameter barrels like 1/2 or so). These set screws (depending on the application / adapter used) will make contact with either the adapter (PRE-BAN) or with the barrel (POST-BAN) A 5/64 allan key is required for installation. These set screws are hardened steel and have cupped ends for superior grip / no slip with minimal scratching or marking of the original barrel. In case you lose a set screw we have chosen a standard size common in the USA and available at any LOWES or ACE Hardware store in the country. Size is #8-32 TPI and are 1/4 inch long. You will need a 5/64 allan key to tighten these.

A FULL LENGTH ADAPTER always refers to the fact that the adapter and the outer body are of the SAME LENGTH. Our SOCOM FULL LENGTH ADAPTER is 7 - 5/8 inches in length. As our SOCOM Universal Fake Silencer has the same size inner diameter (0.75 inches) as the M4 Fake Silencer they can share adapters. So we list the links to the M4 adapter section below.

As we carry so many different thread patterns and lengths we have two areas where you can read about all the available sizes of adapters.
Materials of construction:
The Outer Body is entirely made out of Aircraft Grade Aluminum. To keep these as LIGHT WEIGHT as possible we use similar methods of construction as the real silencers. The Outer Tubes are made from stamped plate 6061 T-6 aircraft aluminum to allow the extreme radius on the end of the tube to be formed. The Inner Sleeve with the knurled part inside it extends from end to end thus complying with BATF in regards to NO ACCESS to the inner cavity / air gap. The Inner Sleeve is CNC machined from billet 7170 T-6 aircraft aluminum to assure lightweight and durability. The inner sleeve and outer tube are PERMANENTLY ATTACHED together also to comply with BATF regulations. Any tampering with this item to separate the two parts will result in the tearing / destruction of the outer tube. We deliberately use very thing aluminum for the tubes so that they basically self destruct if tampered with. We deliberately did NOT use steel for the inner sleeve to keep the weight in check as well as the fact that the bullet when fired never travels through any part of the outer body so NO added durability was needed.
All Adapters are made of Weapons Grade Steel which is slightly heavier than the aluminum we used to use. We made this change as 90% of our sales are going to Live Weapons owners who prefer to shoot with the fake silencer in place. The steel does two things:
Maximum Outer Diameter: = 35.0mm or 1.380 inches.
Maximum Inner Diameter: = 3/4 inch / 0.75 inches (19.0mm).
Maximum Length: = 193.7mm or 7 - 5/8 inches.
Weight: 7.5 ounces. Far lighter than any real silencer of the same size.

NOTE: This same look can also be archived on POST-BAN weapons. There are only 2 considerations here:
In the case of the AR-15 POST-BAN you would NOT need the SHORT THREAD ADAPTER. You would want to get the NON-THREADED END CAP. This END CAPS only purpose is to reduce / neck down the exit hole size of the outer body of the silencer (3/4 inch) to a smaller 1/2 diameter size. Or you could use one of the other short adapters to act as a spacer thus giving you a little more choice. Remember that the thread pattern would NOT be used for attachment as the bullet just flies through the threaded area and the non threaded area. The reason behind the use of an end cap is that if you look at the end of your AR, FAL or other weapons barrels it is highly unlikely that your outer diameter and the coloration of your barrel end will match that of the outer body of the silencer. This is strictly a cosmetic part to give you a finished look. So here the set screws towards the exit hole end make contact with the end cap (to hold it in place) and the set screws in the center area of the outer body make contact with your barrel. All set screws are arranged in a cross / star pattern so that you can use them to center your barrel inside the outer body.
In short.. The set screws are designed to give superior contact with minimal scratch / dent / mark to your barrel. The exact amount of mark left on your barrel is 100% dependent on the amount of torque / how tight you screw the setscrew down. We design these to work on live weapons with little concern about leaving the barrel unmarked / like new. These are for shooters / users not the finicky collector. I (the owner of MFI) have personally used these on several weapons and find that any minor mark is hardly noticeable and of little consequence to a serious shooter.
As we make these on a needed basis please allow 2-3 days for us to modify existing adapters as well as a $15.00 up charge on any Fake Silencer (that would include the adapter) of a $15.00 up charge to the price of a short adapter if you only need the adapter.
All outer bodies are marked as you see in these photos. As the markings are very small and thus very difficult to photograph (sorry our digital camera does not have a macro setting for extreme close ups) we have provided you with the exact words below. We have tried to adjust the font size so that it is in the correct /relative ratio as well.

SPECIAL NOTE ON MARKING POSITION: All SOCOM fake silencer markings REGARDLESS of model / version will end up reading left to right from the right hand side of the weapon. (So if you see any photos of SOCOM Fake Silencers with lettering that reads any other way just note that those are obsolete photos.)
The ENTIRE product is acid etched to simulate the special semi anti-glare effect found on the real thing. After the acid etching these are hardened anodized with the same semi flat deep black -blue color that is currently military spec. for the real silencers. All tubes for BOTH VERSIONS are labeled / marked the same (see above for exact markings) per mil. spec. requirements (same method as the originals are marked) via laser etching through the anodization. Just another reason why our silencers are far better than the el-cheepo airsoft versions that use decals or paint that wears off easily for lettering.
NOTE: These do NOT suppress sound in any way and are 100% legal for the regular civilian to own in all 50 US States.

SOCOM UNIVERSAL FAKE SILENCER INSTRUCTIONS:
a) Airsoft BB Guns Or Live Weapons WITHOUT USE OF THREADS (Post-Ban / Having No Flash Suppressor or other barrel obstruction that has a diameter greater than the main body of the barrel itself):
NOTE: To use this item WITHOUT an adapter or end cap your EXPOSED barrel must be 7 - 5/8 inches or greater. If your EXPOSED barrel length is LESS than 7 - 5/8 inches then you MUST USE one of our adapters or end caps to make up the difference in length. MINIMUM EXPOSED barrel length is 4.25 inches. The 4.25 inches is REQUIRED as that is the distance where the second set of set screws ends. We highly suggest that in this application (no threaded barrel) that you use at least the first two sets of set screws (total of 6 set screws touching your barrel to assure SAFE & SECURE ATTACHMENT.
This is designed to slide over your barrel without the obstruction of a flash suppressor or muzzle break. If you have an airsoft or real Pre-Ban weapon remove the flash suppressor.
Back off / out the setscrews (use a 5/64 allan key) to avoid scratching the barrel as the fake silencer slides down the barrel. For Post-Ban Guns; Compare the end of your barrel's outer diameter and finish to that of the MFI Fake Silencer. If it differs greatly then use the supplied cosmetic end cap. Place the cosmetic end piece in the exit hole so that it is flush with the end of the silencer. Tighten the 3 set screws to hold this in place. Place the fake silencer side by side to your weapon to determine where the setscrews will hit. Areas that deviate from the widest portion of the barrel are less preferable but, will still work. You can even use this on none AR / M16 weapons like AUG or FN FAL just be sure you get good contact with the set screws so the fake silencer does NOT move during firing. Slide the silencer over your barrel all the way down until the threads / end of your barrel touch the inside lip of the inserted cosmetic end piece. Position the fake silencer so that the lettering is at the right side. Tighten the setscrews down in a gradual circular fashion checking to be sure the dead center is maintained. Most of you will not have any difficulty with this as there is very little gap / grip range between the outer diameter of the barrel and the inner diameter of the fake silencer. Be sure to tighten to a degree of torque that will be sufficient to keep the fake silencer in place. Be sure to double check the tightness after using the item and re-tighten if required to keep the silencer, adapter and end piece from coming loose during operation. NOTE: It is NOT advised, illegal & very dangerous to have a gap on the inside where gas may accumulate on any live weapon.
b) Live Weapons (Pre-Ban / Having Thread Pattern):
Back off / out the setscrews (use a 5/64 allan key) to avoid scratching the barrel as the fake silencer slides down the barrel. Screw on the supplied short adapter as tight as possible to your weapon. Note that this adapter acts as the cosmetic end piece for the silencer. Place the fake silencer side by side to your weapon to determine where the setscrews will hit the barrel (if you choose to use these.) Areas that deviate from the widest portion of the barrel are less preferable but, will still work as added stability. Slide the silencer body over the adapter and barrel so that it is flush with the end of the silencer. Position the fake silencer so that the lettering is at the top. Tighten the 3 set screws to hold this in place. Your silencer is now installed. The center of the silencer (where the additional 6 sets screws are located) is free floating over your barrel. For a more secure fit you may also tighten the remaining set screws. If you tighten the remaining setscrews be sure to do so in a gradual circular fashion checking to be sure the dead center is maintained. Most of you will not have any difficulty with this as there is very little gap / grip range between the outer diameter of the barrel and the inner diameter of the fake silencer. Be sure to tighten to a degree of torque that will be sufficient to keep the fake silencer in place. Be sure to double check the tightness after using the item and re-tighten if required to keep the silencer or adapter from coming loose during operation.
Extended Barrel / Added Length Version: This version requires some sort of thread pattern on the end of your weapon. We currently have a number of different threads available. If you do not see your specific pattern call us to see if it is available. We also have blank adapters available with small pilot holes so you can drill and tap it to any size. This version will add / extend the length of your existing barrel.
c) All Weapons Real Or Airsoft With Threaded Barrels:
Remove your flash suppressor. Back off / out the setscrews (use a 5/64 allan key) to avoid scratching the barrel or adapter. Screw on the supplied long adapter as tight as possible to your weapon. Note that this adapter acts as the cosmetic end piece for the silencer. Slide the silencer body over the adapter so that it is flush with the end of the silencer. Position the fake silencer so that the lettering is at the top. Tighten all 9 of the set screws to hold this in place. Your silencer is now installed. Be sure to tighten to a degree of torque that will be sufficient to keep the fake silencer in place. Be sure to double check the tightness after using the item and re-tighten if required to keep the silencer or adapter from coming loose during operation.
NOTE: That the action of sliding this product over your barrel could result in scratching the barrel if you did not back off the setscrews. Additionally the action of sliding anything (our silencer or any other product) over your barrel can cause rub marks. The setscrews are designed to give superior contact with minimal scratch / dent / mark to your barrel. The exact amount of mark left on your barrel is 100% dependent on the amount of torque / how tight you screw the setscrew down. We design these to work on live weapons with little concern about leaving the barrel unmarked / like new. These are for shooters / users not the finicky collector.
