Brief Summary:

Updated: 01-06-2009 @ ( 1543 hours )
NOTE: This is a real update not some counter. MFI is updated within 15 minutes of any change in inventory.

Do NOT confuse this UPGRADED & HOP UP TOKYO MARUI version of the FAMAS F1 with the lesser quality and extremely LOW POWERED Taiwanese Clone / Copy. This is the GENUINE TOKYO MARUI article that is far more detailed in every way and 3 times more powerful than the less costly copies that can barely shoot a bb 25 feet. Our upgraded Marui guns are not only more powerful (Blowing through corrugated cardboard at 25 -30 feet.) but, also far more RELIABLE and LONG LASTING. The F1 has the same upgrade done to the internal parts as all our Marui product that is aimed at far longer life and trouble free operation than stock Marui guns or any other manufacture of airsoft.

SPECIAL NOTE ON REALISM: Although this product may look similar to the real thing when compared side by side they are NOT identical. While they may share some of the same cosmetic features / external shape the internal & external mechanisms for actual operation are in fact completely different from the real thing. Of course this is NOT are real weapon nor is it manufactured by GIAT. The real weapon's manufacture has NO relationship to this airsoft product which is styled after the real thing. Thus any mention of or use of trade names is done in reference to the real weapon and NOT the airsoft product. No MFI offered product has any Trademarks or other IPR use on it. We do this to be sure that there is NO CONFUSION IN THE MARKET.

SPECIAL NOTE: MFI does NOT sell the FAMAS F1 Contract Versions due to sub-standard quality and reliability. We have purchased a number of Contract Versions to STUDY in close detail so we know what we are talking about. In short we NEVER make blind comparisons or comment on items that we have no personal experience with. Thus all comments are facts as we see them in side by side comparisons NOT FICTION based on what someone else said or photos / guessing.

Pictured above is an actual MFI photo of " The Tokyo Marui Manufacture Electric FAMAS F1 AIRSOFT ". (Just as MFI supplies to the Professional Motion Picture Industry.) As the FAMAS F1 is a nearly all black gun (in real life and airsoft) it would be impossible to distinguish the difference between the Marui and the Lesser Quality Contract guns in a photograph. Side by side it is easier to get a feeling for the finer points. Such as:

  1. Marui's Butt Plate is Rubber where the Contract gun is same black plastic as the rest of the gun.

  2. Marui's Motor is a High Torque EG 560 where the Contract gun is an old EG 330.

  3. Marui's version is FAR more powerful (MFI upgrade) where the Contract gun has sub-standard spring & gears.

  4. Marui textures the black plastic via bead blasting where the Contract gun is a uniform semi gloss black plastic. The Marui plastic parts become a little less shinny and more like the semi dull finish on the real weapon.

  5. Marui paints the metal parts & plastic bolt face a deep slate gray to mimic the real parts of the FAMAS that are parkerized where the Contract gun's metal parts are painted semi gloss black to match the plastic body. Here is a list of the painted parts of the Marui F1:

    • Barrel
    • Flash suppressor
    • Bipods
    • Cocking handle
    • Bolt face
    • Magazine.

  6. Marui's version has the ADJUSTABLE HOP UP where the Contract gun does NOT.

  7. Marui's version comes with Marui 14 page instructions that are fully comprehensive where the Contract gun normally has Generic instructions or 3-4 pages that barley covers minimal operation.

  8. Marui's version has a Marui Labeled box top where the Contract gun has generic brown box top.

  9. Marui's version comes with a very nice cleaning rod and bb removing tool where the Contract gun comes with a less sophisticated and less effective tool.

If you are using this item for gaming, fixated on having as much power as possible then buy the Marui gun. If you want a wall hanger then buy the one of the contract manufacture versions from someone else.

Please note for those of you who are not FAMAS experts the term "Grenade Launcher" for the FAMAS refers to the integral graduated barrel with the sliding adjustment mechanism. This system uses a standard rifle grenade barrel launching technique that is common on any add on barrel mounted accessory available for most real military weapons. Some weapons have this built into the barrel in the form of an adjustable lock ring like the FAMAS F1 or like the SIG 550, Steyr AUG or HK G3A4 that utilize a non-adjustable lock ring (usually silver in color). This type can also be found on the barrel or flash suppressor, which acts as a fixed position o-ring to hold the grenade in the correct place for launching. All of these modern military type of launchers use live ammunition to launch and arm the rifle grenade. The term "Grenade Launcher" does not mean there is an addition (not pictured) part that you get with this or any gun. If you still do not grasp this definition we recommend you buy or read "The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Ammunition" by Ian V. Hogg. ISBN 89009 911 1 Printed by Chartwell Books NJ in 1985.

The Tokyo Marui Airsoft FAMAS F1 that MFI carries is state of the art in low volume air guns. Commonly known as Air Soft this model is all electric and select fire (Semi & Full Automatic). That is to say that it is capable of both semi automatic and full automatic fire. The BBs used are the industry standard 6mm plastic type.

In real life the FAMAS F1 is only available to Military and Law Enforcement. There are some 88 semiautomatic units here in the USA. The FAMAS was developed in the late 1970s by Manufacture d'Armes, Saint Etienne in France and saw it's first appearance when issued to the French Army in 1980. When first introduced it quickly earned the nickname 'Le Clairon' ( The Bugle ) for it's extraordinary appearance. This weapon is commonly seen in all French International Air Ports and outside many important French Government buildings in Paris. Apart form the French Foreign Legion and the French Military this weapon is hardly ever seen.

It replaced the aging MAS49 model as the standard battle rifle. The FAMAS is a Bull Pup design. The most striking thing about it is that it is truly ambidextrous. The ejector port and sling both have right and left attachments to accommodate shooting from either side. The remaining features i.e. magazine release safety and select fire switches are all placed in the middle of the weapon.

NOTE: A conventional sling can not be used on the FAMAS F1. Because of the special attachment point on the head of the bipod. You must have a real FAMAS F1 sling to use or you will have to modify the gun on your own to accept a conventional sling by adding standard sling swivels to the forward part of the weapon. MFI also makes a barrel mounted sling swivel (similar to the FN P90 Front Swivel that we make but, with an added stopping mechanism that set screws in place thus, pinning the MFI Sling Swivel between the stopper and the grenade launcher adjustment knob) that can accommodate a standard sling. This accessory costs $28.75 Retail or PMC @ $20.00. This is a plug and play device that takes about 3 minutes to mount and requires no modification to your gun. (The later version; FAMAS SV (G2) has had the bipods removed and standard sling swivels put in their place.

SPECIAL NOTE: The biggest complaint in the airsoft industry these days that MFI hears at least twice per day is the supplying of substandard "El Cheepo" generic batteries with electric guns. This is a common practice of ripping of the customer by unscrupulous vendors. These vendors can offer lower prices as they supply substandard batteries (Non OME "ORIGINAL MANUFACTURE EQUIPMENT"). MFI could also buy these junk batteries ($2.75 to $4.00) that last only 2 months (if they even work at all when you get them) as many of you have called to buy batteries from us to replace these poor quality ones supplied by someone else. REST ASSURED that MFI supplies only OME batteries or Generic versions made under license of Tokyo Marui in the exact same battery factories that make Marui's using the exact same tooling and top quality cells as they do for Marui OME. There is a significant cost difference and a very good reason why MFI & Marui recommend using ONLY OME Spec batteries and chargers as substandard equipment can permanently damage your costly airsoft gun. Genuine Tokyo Marui or MFI Generic batteries are good for 2.5+ years at a minimum. In short you get what you pay for...

Considered the finest bullpup ever made in .223 or 5.56 NATO the real FAMAS F1 is scarcely offered for sale. When they do appear on the open market they can bring well over $10,000.00. Here is one of your only chances to own this truly rare weapon. If you are involved in the film industry why risk dangerous and expensive real firearms in the hands of untrained actors? Great for Military or Police weapons identification courses or enjoy relatively safe indoor shooting year round. It is correct in size, feel and very near the real weight making this airgun ideal! Click here to learn more facts about Air Soft BB Guns.

What makes this airgun unique is the fact that they are so rare. As an airsoft bb gun this is at the top 20% of the our list side by side with the MP5s.

NOTE: This model is a special MFI upgraded item.

All our upgraded Tokyo Marui AEGs come with the HOP UP Mechanism installed and is full adjustable. To learn more about this feature click here.

MFI upgraded airsoft guns have moved away from the over powered versions we did 5+ years ago that were only good for target shooting. As gaming with airsoft has grown we are forced to follow the current trends and customer requests for less dangerous airsoft guns. Thus all our upgraded guns are well within the limits / requirements for gaming.

Most of the air guns we sell are technically not "Air Soft" as these are all EXPORT MODELS that make use of slightly higher compression springs, motors and gears that would be illegal in most countries where air soft guns are manufactured. Additionally our particular air guns have been re-designed to accommodate the use of metallic (6mm) ammunition.

As this model is an electric airsoft gun you can expect the following in terms of MFI Custom Upgrades:

In closing: MFI has years (10+) in the airsoft industry and we are also intimately involved with the manufactures and the manufacturing process for this sport. In short we have been there and done that and we are the only company in the USA with this kind of expertise and real world experience as we have been at it far longer than anyone else has. You do not have to take our word for it... as we not only stand behind everything we sell but, also back it up with an unparalleled warranty of our own. There are no direct airsoft factory / manufacture warranties; only the ones the seller is willing to give you. In short you get what you paid for.

Here at MFI we truly feel that the whole idea and beauty of airsoft is the fact that it is relatively safe and useable in areas where conventional bb guns or paintball guns can not be used. You would not shoot conventional bb guns in doors with little or no back stop and you certainly would not shoot paintballs in side your own home or garage. Airsoft is not intended to compete with either of these two other activities but rather is a super alternative when you do not want to go to the range or it is raining or what ever just to have a few quick minutes of fun. This sport can be enjoyed for years using the same MFI Upgraded gun as we have them especially built to last.
