Pictured above is an actual photo of " The MFI (Single Shot) L85 Carbine / CAR Air Soft Battle Rifle ". (Just as MFI supplies to the Professional Motion Picture Industry.) This Air Soft Bull Pup is a dimensionally near perfect to the original British Army Special Operations Weapon. This is the shortest and rarest of the L85A1 family. Less than 1500 real CARs were ever manufactured. This cut down model allows for use in tanks, armored vehicles or for extreme close quarters battle (CQB). Firing a real one of these (and we have) can singe your eye brows from the muzzle flash.

SPECIAL NOTE ON REALISM: Although this product may look similar to the real thing when compared side by side they are NOT identical. While they may share some of the same cosmetic features / external shape the internal & external mechanisms for actual operation are in fact completely different from the real thing. Of course this is NOT are real weapon nor is it manufactured by Royal Ordnance UK or any British Common Wealth Company. The real weapon's manufacture has NO relationship to this airsoft product which is styled after the real thing. Thus any mention of or use of trade names is done in reference to the real weapon and NOT the airsoft product. No MFI offered product has any Trademarks or other IPR use on it. We do this to be sure that there is NO CONFUSION IN THE MARKET.

This airsoft version of the L85-CAR has all the positive features of the L85A1 full length airsoft bb gun such as SUSAT site with standard post. Yes the SUSAT is full adjustable for windage and elevation same as the real thing. Again this is a plastic version of the SUSAT with Plexiglas lens. Real SUSATs are $1000.00+ and near impossible to find for sale. Our MFI SUSAT with Simulated Red Dot will fit in place of this unit without modification. The SUSAT's post is painted professionally and is the correct shape as the real weapon thus making these far better than that of the L85A1 even though it is the same manufacture.

Additionally the airsoft version (unlike the real weapon) has Picatinny rails added on both left and right sides. These rails allow use of the forward pistol grip (which can move up or down the rail), as well as the addition of a flashlight or laser. As mentioned above this model comes with the pistol grip and flashlight. Click here to see a photo of these actual parts.

The grip is an incorrect color for the actual gun, but it is not too bad as the black color simulates the Knights Armament Grip. The correct color is GREEN to match the other furniture on the weapon. Unlike our NEW MFI Forward Grip which are CNC machined the L85 CAR grip is a simple plastic injection molded part. It does function exactly like the real thing and is adjustable / removable, but not near the quality of the real Knights or New MFI Grips. We have painted the grip in one of our photos below to show you how the real ones looked.

The Flashlight that comes with this gun is basically useless as a tactical device. Any mini Mag-Lite is much brighter. But the nice thing is that the mounting bracket will allow mounting of a standard Mini Mag-Lite which you can find at any hardware store / Wal-Mart for $10.00. The only real use that we have found for this weak powered flashlight is for looking behind counters / computers to see where a wire is plugged in. Normal mini mag-lites are usually to strong in such a cramped area where these have just the right amount of light to see what you are doing. In short this is a freebie anyway. If you want a real TACTICAL Flashlight there is none better than our TACMIII Super Bright Flashlight. We have several photos below of the L85 CAR with both TACMIII and MFI Lasers on them.

NOTE on FPS: Remember that here at MFI we have the correct equipment in order to accurately measure the REAL speed of the bbs. We do not rely on the manufactures statistics as they are usually grossly wrong. Most often they over estimate the speed as much as 100 FPS more than they really shoot. The Drawback of the L85 CAR is the standard draw back on the L85A1 single shot airsoft... The cocking handle being the incorrect length, which means it, is slightly longer (about 3 mms) and narrower than the real thing. Acceptable in that they did this to give the user a better grip / area to grab in order to cock it more easily. For those of you who are like us at MFI the cocking handle can easily be unscrewed and modified to be shorter and thicker if you have any modeling skills at all.

This L85 CARBINE is a low volume air rifle and it is single shot (which means you must pull back on the cocking handle for each and every shot). Commonly known as Air Soft. All plastic hand guards and grips come off just as on the real thing. The weight of the weapon is the only give away (real weapon weighs in at near 10 lbs.) As there are ZERO real L85 CARs in the USA to our knowledge so finding one at any price is not an option. Even parts sets are unavailable!! Your next best chance to own a piece of British history has arrived. The L85 CAR Shoots a Standard 6mm Plastic Airsoft BB.

MFI has had a contract manufacture make a number of improvements over the years to improve performance, reliability as well as more metal parts of the L85A1 family. We basically have almost single handedly got this gun made for our loyal customers and true L85A1 fans. Unfortunately there has never been a high enough demand / interest in the market for Tokyo Marui to make this gun in airsoft. Additionally because we continue to make this via contract manufactures means that Marui knows there is already competition from MFI.

The weapon has very good plastic detail and scores as one of the highest single shots we carry. Really correct coloration on the hand guards as well as duel tone gray / black coloration on the receiver and barrel.

NOTE: Any MFI product in the 90 points or better category is going to be very impressive. No one but, no one scores 100... we always at least deduct for the fact that they are not live firing.

As no company wishes or has any plans to make any of the L85 variants in the future this is one of your only choices in single shot for the L85. If you are looking for a Good Single Shot Rifle, a Prop Gun or Wall Hanger for your collection you should buy this version and the standard L85A1 to have 2 of the most sought after and exotic assault weapons ever manufactured.

All in all a very nice set up. Shoots as well as any other single shot airsoft guns that we sell. The gun has no hop up either… not that this is any big deal anyway with the added power.
