Brief Summary:
Pictured above is an actual MFI photo of " The Electric MP5K-PDW AIRSOFT " (Just as MFI supplies to the Professional Motion Picture Industry.) This product is state of the art in low volume air guns. The MP5K PDW ( Personal Defense Weapon ) is favored by many of the elite anti-terrorist forces around the world. The PDW is the shortest version in length of the MP5 Airsoft series that still retains a stock. The MP5A5 and MP5A4 are in the middle and the MP5SD5 and MP5SD6 are the longest. The MP5K PDW is a select fire BB gun. Commonly known as Air Soft this model is all electric and select fire (Semi & Full Automatic). That is to say that it is capable of both semi automatic and full automatic fire. The BBs used are the industry standard 6mm plastic type.
SPECIAL NOTE ON REALISM: Although this product may look similar to the real thing when compared side by side they are NOT identical. While they may share some of the same cosmetic features / external shape the internal & external mechanisms for actual operation are in fact completely different from the real thing. Of course this is NOT are real weapon nor is it manufactured by HK (Heckler & Koch). The real weapon's manufacture has NO relationship to this airsoft product which is styled after the real thing. Thus any mention of or use of trade names is done in reference to the real weapon and NOT the airsoft product. No MFI offered product has any Trademarks or other IPR use on it. We do this to be sure that there is NO CONFUSION IN THE MARKET.
In real life a new MP5K PDW is only available to Military and Law Enforcement. It is a favorite of Special Operations Teams and Secret Service Personnel as it is one of the shortest submachine guns available. This Airsoft BB gun mimics the real weapon in nearly every respect…making it very desirable as a CQB (Close Quarters Battle) weapon. The PDW has a side folding stock that aids in concealment and it can be rapidly deployed with a push of a button or it can be fired in the closed position. The PDW and standard MP5K both come with profile of the weapon as compact as possible. Like the real PDW, this airsoft also has the quick release flash suppressor on it. This covers the 3 lug barrel that is unlike the standard MP5A5's barrel in that, it also has a threaded end too! The threads are protected by a removable end cap. The vertical pistol grip allows completely stable firing position with an exceptionally short weapon.
MP5K PDW verses MP5K which should I buy?
First of all the MP5K and MP5K PDW are built off the same frame and use the exact same motor and gears. All internal parts are identical between the two with the exception of the copper barrel that the bb actually travels through. The PDW has an inner barrel that is about 1 inch longer than the MP5K. Marui does this for the same reason they use different wiring and hook up points in other seaming similar models… and that is to keep you the customer from easily converting from one gun to the next. From a manufacturing stand point if would be far more efficient to have as many items be identical as possible so as to make inventory in the assembly stages more practical. Additionally Marui is very reluctant if not down right uncooperative when they know that we are trying to give our customers added benefits in conversion parts.
For this reason Marui will not supply or makes the folding stock of the PDW so costly ($95.00+) and takes forever (if at all) to deliver. Marui is willing to supply MFI with (and we have these in stock) MP5K rear plugs, PDW: Flash suppressors, barrels, barrel nuts and front take down pins because all these items it is conceivable that they could be easily lost. Or at least we have convinced them of this fact. Folding stock is too large to loss (at least in Marui's eyes). We have choose to carry both guns but, if you are undecided about whether or not you might want the folding stock or extended outer 3 lug barrel we recommend the PDW.

PDW has:
SPECIAL NOTE: The biggest complaint in the airsoft industry these days that MFI hears at least twice per day is the supplying of substandard "El Cheepo" generic batteries with electric guns. This is a common practice of ripping of the customer by unscrupulous vendors. These vendors can offer lower prices as they supply substandard batteries (Non OME "ORIGINAL MANUFACTURE EQUIPMENT"). MFI could also buy these junk batteries ($2.75 to $4.00) that last only 2 months (if they even work at all when you get them) as many of you have called to buy batteries from us to replace these poor quality ones supplied by someone else. REST ASSURED that MFI supplies only OME batteries or Generic versions made under license of Tokyo Marui in the exact same battery factories that make Marui's using the exact same tooling and top quality cells as they do for Marui OME. There is a significant cost difference and a very good reason why MFI & Marui recommend using ONLY OME Spec batteries and chargers as substandard equipment can permanently damage your costly airsoft gun. Genuine Tokyo Marui or MFI Generic batteries are good for 2.5+ years at a minimum. In short you get what you pay for...
A real MP5K PDW if you are lucky enough to live in a state where they are legal the cost is near $5500.00 +. Why risk dangerous and expensive real firearms in the hands of untrained actors? MP5K has:
NOTE: We supply an extra solid plastic 3 lug barrel which is Approved DOC Orange. So you get the original barrel loose in the box (black / unmodified) as well as the nut so that you can swap from one to the other with transporting the weapon or using it for professional video / motion picture use.
SPECIAL NOTE: This folding stock is hollow as compared to the real one, which is solid. The airsoft version is plenty durable… obviously you can not drive a tank over it like you can with the real one. You can cut it open and fill it with resin or lead for added weight.
NOTE: MP5K has only straight through pin so no way to hook up a sling to the front part of the gun.
So if you converted a PDW to MP5K you would have to keep the 3 lug barrel (most everyone does want this anyway.) and all you would need to buy would be the rear plug.
SPECIAL NOTE: It is the end cap that is painted DOC orange on the MP5K but, we often have them in black as well.

MFI upgraded airsoft guns have moved away from the over powered versions we did 5+ years ago that were only good for target shooting. As gaming with airsoft has grown we are forced to follow the current trends and customer requests for less dangerous airsoft guns. Thus all our upgraded guns are well within the limits / requirements for gaming.
Most of the air guns we sell are technically not "Air Soft" as these are all EXPORT MODELS that make use of slightly higher compression springs, motors and gears that would be illegal in most countries where air soft guns are manufactured. Additionally our particular air guns have been re-designed to accommodate the use of metallic (6mm) ammunition.

Here at MFI we truly feel that the whole idea and beauty of airsoft is the fact that it is relatively safe and useable in areas where conventional bb guns or paintball guns can not be used. You would not shoot conventional bb guns in doors with little or no back stop and you certainly would not shoot paintballs in side your own home or garage.
