Brief Summary:
Pictured above is an actual MFI photo of " The Single Shot G3A3 STYLE AIRSOFT ". (Just as MFI supplies to the Professional Motion Picture Industry.) NOTE: Our DOC Approved Marking consists of the entire front site block, barrel and flash suppressor being solid orange plastic. The Motion picture version above differs only in that this area has been painted to match the barrel. This is easy to do as this is one single part held on by a single screw and thus can be painted in a matter of minutes in any Prop Department. This product is state of the art in low volume air guns. Commonly known as Air Soft this model is single shot only. That is to say that you must physically cock the operating rod before each shot. The BBs used are the industry standard
6mm plastic type.
SPECIAL NOTE ON REALISM: Although this product may look similar to the real thing when compared side by side they are NOT identical. While they may share some of the same cosmetic features / external shape the internal & external mechanisms for actual operation are in fact completely different from the real thing. Of course this is NOT are real weapon nor is it manufactured by HK (Heckler & Koch). The real weapon's manufacture has NO relationship to this airsoft product which is styled after the real thing. Thus any mention of or use of trade names is done in reference to the real weapon and NOT the airsoft product. No MFI offered product has any Trademarks or other IPR use on it. We do this to be sure that there is NO CONFUSION IN THE MARKET.
In the real world the G3A3 is the backbone of many of the worlds military forces. A G3 variant i.e. G3A3, G3A4, G36, MC51 (HK 51), PSG-1 and SG-1 can be found in main stream and special operations teams around the globe.
In real life the G3A3 is only available to Military and Law Enforcement. The G3A3 served as many of the Worlds Foreign Military's standard battle rifle virtually unchanged from 1960 to 1995. This is truly a workhorse in historical warfare seeing service all over the world by: German, South American, African and many Asian Countries. It was the standard issued weapon to many Ground Forces and a favorite of Law Enforcement Special Operations Teams as an affordable battle rifle. The .308 or 7.62 X 51 NATO caliber offers good ballistic characteristics for close, medium and long range shots. A real full auto G3A3 if you are lucky enough to live in a state where they are legal the cost is near $6400.00 +. Even the US semiautomatic version the HK 91 variants are $3,000.00+. Why risk dangerous and expensive real firearms in the hands of untrained actors? Or enjoy relatively safe indoor shooting year round. It is correct in size, feel and very near the real weight making this airgun ideal for training or collecting! Click here to learn more facts about Air Soft BB Guns.
We have drastically reduced the price of this item as we have discovered a week point in the mold making process that does NOT affect shootabilaty or usability but, DOES affect some minor cosmetic function. There is a added lead weight hidden in the forward hand guard. The glue used to keep this weight in place can with time degrade and allow the weight to become free. Apart from the sliding / rattling noise cause by the failure of the glue the weight can also make contact with the cross over bar that holds the return spring for the cocking handle. The ONLY FUNCTION of this spring is to pull the cocking handle back to the forward / closed position. The weapon can still be fired as all the user has to do is move / slide the cocking handle closed. Breakage of this cross over bar can also happen over time on its own. Both the type of the glue and the weakness of the cross over bar will be fixed in our next production run. Once we do this the price will increase back to the original $80.00 retail cost.
For the remainder of this production run (while we still have stock of the minor defected guns) we offer them for $40.00. Again the guns even if both the glue and cross bar fail are still 100% shootable. It is not cost effective for MFI to disassemble these guns and fix the 2 issues. The customer could fix these on their own but, it would be time consuming (3-4 hours) and require some skill in modeling. For this reason we offer the lower price and do NOT allow returns due to these 2 issues. In short this is a fantastic low price of $40.00 with our 100% full disclosure as to what problems may occur.
Additionally as we test fire all airsoft guns prior to shipping we also have available some of these G3s that already have the cocking return spring cross bar broken and lead weight sliding freely inside the hand guard. These units are discounted to $25.00 and are considered CLOSE OUT ITEMS. Obviously a SUPER DEAL for those who want prop guns or try to fix them.
What makes this airgun unique is it's low cost and good molded plastic parts. Note that we carry several versions of the G3A3 in single shot. This is an all black version that is the least expensive as MFI is a partner in the manufacturing process. Basically we raised this from the dead as we had so many customers wanting good shooting G3s in an all black configuration at below $100.00. Western Arms in the mid 1980s manufactured a version similar to what we have here. We had the Western Arms contract manufacture (as WA no longer makes this item) upgrade the tooling and make some changes to bring this up to date. In short you get what you pay for but, if you are looking for a G3 this is a very good choice.
So the good and bad (see above as well) about this product goes like this. It is overall more dimensionally correct than the Marui G3A3 Single Shot. Although you still can not mount an AEG Claw style scope mount to it, the receiver is too large by about 5/1000ths of an inch unlike the Marui version, which is 0.5mm too small. In short you could file down a scope mount or melt out some plastic and make it work. The right hand side as you can see has a number of holes from screws that hold the gun together. The left hand side does not have these holes and looks like the real thing. Unlike the Marui version this model's select fire switch does not move, additionally the cocking handle is on the right hand side (which is incorrect) but, perhaps easier to use then the real position. In fact much easier to use if you are right handed as it is closer to the body ( not as far to reach as the Marui or real thing ) which means you do not have to move the gun down to reach the cocking handle and as it is on the right side(incorrect to original) if you are right handed it is also faster and easier as your left had keeps the gun level while you cock it. Sometimes incorrectness exists for a good reason.
The sites are not adjustable (not that it matters anyway). The stock on the WA / MFI model is a quick release version which slides off with the push of one button. Hand guards and the rest of the weapon are far more correct in shape and size than the Marui G3A3 single shot and match more closely the AEG by Marui.
The front site like 90% of all single shot airsoft bb guns is fixed / not adjustable. The rear turret site is also fixed and does not rotate like the Marui G3 or HF / MFI MP5A3 and Marui MP5A3. While this maybe a minor set back in realism it does NOT really effect the shoot ability of this weapon or any airsoft. The reason being is that all the airsoft weapons MFI sells have a near dead center accuracy set at the factory at a distance of 20 feet. This means that the any adjustment in the turret site would not really effect the usability as the turret site simulates the real thing and the real weapons site when adjusted is for 100 meters, 200m, 300 m & 400m so this type of adjustment in an airsoft gun would have little real world use. The turret sites are useful for a shooter to adjust his or her's incorrect positioning in regards to site picture / eye relief. Finally what an airsoft shooter finds a little more useful (instead of broad movements in elevation) would be the micro adjustment for windage. These are usually available only on more expensive electric air guns. In short you get what you pay for. But even these are usually not of much use as we mentioned before... part of MFI's higher standard is to have the bbs hit within reason (depending on the specific weapon) what they are being aimed at. For "True Real World Effective Range" of the airsoft gun that MFI sells click here.
The magazine has a storage chamber for bbs but, unlike the Marui it is not a hi capacity mag but, rather a standard version (which to us is always preferable). Finally this is one of the few Non-Marui guns to shoot over 255 fps... thanks to our upgrade! In short a great value considering it is almost $100.00 less than the Marui version.
MFI uses these as they are as background props as they are near indistinguishable from the real thing at 10 feet away. Being mostly plastic the weight is the most obvious give away. There is plenty of space inside to accommodate lead weights to increase the realism. As an airsoft single shot bb gun goes the dimensions are not exactly correct as on the more expensive electric models but, as a whole is a great platform to start with. NOTE: No Marui magazine (electric or single shot) will work in this gun.
In real life the G3A3 is only available to Military and Law Enforcement. It is a favorite of Special Operations Teams as it comes in a number of variations of length. A real G3 or Semi-Auto variant if you are lucky enough to live in a state where they are legal the cost is near $1900.00 +. Why risk dangerous and expensive real firearms in the hands of untrained actors? Or enjoy relatively safe indoor shooting year round. It is correct in size, feel and very near the real weight making this airgun ideal for training or collecting! Click here to learn more facts about Air Soft BB Guns.
