SPECIAL NOTE: Early Trade Show / Demo stock for a machine gun version which has a Deep Black Parkerized FINISH instead of the later Gray Parkerized finish. Used / Came off a SMG in 1986 while we were at the factory. 99.9% with all the hardware. Only mark on it is where the stock folds in the rear pivot point. Of course all stocks once they are opened and closed 2-3 times will have this same mark.

SITES Spa & Spectre History

What's in a name? The Spectre pistol and SMG were given the name Spectre or "Specter in English" for two reasons:

Firstly the word "Spectre" in Italian as well as its English equivalent means "Ghost". The Spectre has a far superior balance and ergonomics than most other weapons in its class. When fired especially in full auto and with a silencer attached the firearm does not climb. The operator feels the bolt moving back and forth and the greatly reduced blast from the silenced muzzle and low felt recoil gives the shooter the impression of being past by a Ghost.

Secondly it is a play on the popular James Bond 007 arch-rival organization "S.P.E.C.T.R.E." The Special Executor for Counter-Intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion. SITES takes much pride in there products and reminds the viewer that their Spectre is used by the forces of good to combat the forces of evil. Like 007 in the movies the Specter SMG is the choose of professionals world wide. Elite Anti-Terrorist Forces have tested and implemented the SITES Spectre in highly specialized operations.

First introduced in 1983 the Spectre M4 is most advanced submachine gun to date. It is unique not only because it is the only double action sub-machine-gun in the world, but also for features like: Four column magazines, unconventional folding stock etc. Intended for anti-terrorist and counter-insurgency forces world wide.

Its specific unique features are:

Three action divided bolt and dual spring blow back firing system. Fires from the closed bolt position for better stability with a dramatic decrease in climb and vibration.
De-cocking lever eliminates manual safety resulting in making it impossible to fire the weapon accidentally.
Double action trigger. Making the Spectre the only double action SMG in the world.
Patented four-file magazine. Giving it a more compact and greater ammo capacity than any other weapon in its class.

Folding Stock for HC & M4 SMG

Yet another highly prized accessory for your Spectre. This is the very same stock as utilized on the SITES M4 submachine gun.
Unique expanding fold over system is one of the innovative designs that keeps the Spectre compact. Newly Manufactured at SITES for MFI this all steel construction stock is a must for any Spectre enthusiast.
AS SITES (the original Manufacture of the Spectre) IS NOW OUT OF BUSINESS FOR MORE SINCE 1998!!! And we are finally down to the very last of our stock... The following is a list of what we have left. The number following the item / in "( )" is an estimate of the quantity we have left to sell. As we have been saying for the past 15 years when these items are out of stock that is it.

Legalities:
In general there are no regulations restricting the conversion of a pistol into a rifle nor is there any paper work or permission needed. Laws very greatly from State to State. We recommend that you get in contact with Local, State and Federal Authorities for most current information. All NFA Rules apply.

Installation Instructions:
The Original SITES Folding Stock was a rivet design intended to be a permanent fixture. MFI and SITES jointly have re configured the hardware so that it is easily installed and removed. The new hardware looks identical to the original yet, functions differently. The once permanent rivet spacer now has threads to allow removal of the complete unit. In most cases you will need to modify your Spectre in order to install the folding stock. If your Spectre has an empty set of holes in the rear site ears then no modification is necessary.
Note: That the attaching mechanism for the stock in the closed position will scratch the top of the weapon.

To install: Remove bolt and spring assembly. Remove rear sight and retaining pin.
The hole in the site base corresponds with the larger oval shaped hole in the end of the stock. With the stock in the open position...Slide the ears of the stock over the outside of the site base so as to line up the holes in the base to the oval holes in the stock. This should make the lower edge of the stock fit flush on top of the top edge of the receiver. Replace the rear site plate and spring then place the New Slotted bolt into the center hole. Tighten the circular nut by placing your finger on the nut and using a regular flat head screw driver on the slotted end. This system does operate with a little slack. The nut should stop on the bottom of the threads of the bolt. Now extend the stock to the open position.
At this point you have two choices:
1. Using the second hole in the stock as a template mark the site base for position and remove stock and drill.
2. Using the second hole in the stock as a drill guide leave the stock in place and drill in the center of the hole on either side.
Drill with an 11/64 carbide coated/double edged high speed drill bit. ( Because this hole must be centered and round buy a new bit if necessary.) If you feel that the next drill size up will work you had better test it on similar material first...The actual size is a half size metric and difficult to find it in the USA.
Remove stock...This 11/64 hole is still too small for the small end of the nubs. Take a rat tail file and hand fit the smaller circumference of the nubs so that they slide in and out with ease. Be careful not to make the hole too large.
Now take the tube, spring and nubs. Place the spring in the tube and a nub at either end with the smaller diameter end out. Here is the hard part. Squeeze the nubs inward enough to work them sideways inside the site base. Work them down and into the holes. Press them inward to assure that they move in and out with some ease. If not then remove and widen the holes.
With the nubs in place slide the stock back on and into the open position. You will see that these nubs are all that locks the stock open. They are strong if the holes are not too large. Replace the center site plate and New Slotted bolt in with one oval ear washer on either side. Make sure that the larger diameter circle end of the rivet faces out as the smaller one will be used to push the nubs back in so as to permit the stock to be unlocked. Place the Circular Nut on the other side and tighten down.
There will be a little give in the open position as this is inherent in the original design.
