Think of the adapter as a simple metal tube / barrel extension which has a thread that matches the threads on your weapon. The length of this tube can be any length really. But generally we make only the following lengths (Shortest to Longest):

SET SCREWS & THE ADAPTER SYSTEM:

How this works is that no matter what your application is you will receive the same outer body as you see in the above photos. All outer bodies have a ¾ inch hole bored out from front to back. In this hole slides your barrel and or our adapter which has a 3/4 inch outer diameter. The inner diameter at the end nearest the front site will have thread in it to accommodate your specific weapon (if you have a threaded barrel).

The inner diameter of the EXIT end for all adapters is 1/2 inch. So this 1/2" exit hole basically necks down the larger 3/4 inch diameter of the OUTER BODY down to a more believable exit hole for a silencer.

Both the outer body and adapter are finished in the same way to match 100% which give you a very clean finished look. All outer bodies have a total of 12 set screws in them that are arranged in a 3 separate cross / star patterns. This pattern allows you to perfectly center your barrel (important only on smaller diameter barrels like 1/2 or so). These set screws (depending on the application / adapter used) will make contact with either the adapter only (ON THREADED BARREL APPLICATIONS ONLY, if you want to screw on and off the fake silencer like a real one) or they with make contact the barrel and adapter (like on a POST-BAN assault weapon or smooth barrel of a bolt action sniper rifle.)

A 5/64 allan key is required for installation.

Set screw locations are indicated by "white dots" and or "black arrows" in the photo above.

All Adapters are made of Weapons Grade Steel which is slightly heavier than the aluminum we used to use. We made this change as 90% of our sales are going to weapons that will see heavy use by owners who prefer to shoot with the fake silencer in place. The steel does two things:

• First it will out last the aluminum version 1000 to 1. Especially important as many of our customers are putting them on Class II & Class III weapons or assault weapons that get a lot of use.

• Second we have had so many requests from customers wishing to PERMANENTLY ATTACH these to their weapons. In most cases customers had 10.5 or 14.5 inch barreled AR15 uppers which they did not wish to paper as an NFA SBR (Short Barrel Rifle). By switching to a steel adapter they can now drill and tap the threaded part, screw in a set screw and simply weld over the set screw and hole with a common Mig or Tig welder. Any marks left from welding heat or grinding down the welded are to smooth it enough for the outer body to fit back on are completely covered by the outer body itself.

The set screws are designed to give superior contact with minimal scratch / dent / mark to your barrel. The exact amount of mark left on your barrel is 100% dependent on the amount of torque / how tight you screw the setscrew down. We design these to work on machine guns with little concern about leaving the barrel unmarked / like new. These are for shooters / users; NOT the finicky collector. I (one of the owners of MFI) have personally used these on several weapons and find that any minor mark is hardly noticeable and of little consequence to a serious shooter.
