There are many manufactures, levels of protection and styles on the market. We sell only what we have tested and use ourselves on a daily basis. We also only sell plates that will fit in standard Mil. Spec. Body Armor like the Interceptor Vest or our MFI Plate Carrier / Molle Vest.

All Plates are:

• Manufactured by companies who supply the US Military and US Law Enforcement with plating for personal, armored vehicle and aircraft applications. MFI has extensively tested all available personal armor systems and we offer ONLY what we feel is the very best and most effective. Also referred to as Aluminum Oxide Ceramic Armor Inserts.

• Triple Curve (We do NOT sell or recommend flat plates.) Special curvature form fits to the body far better than flat plates. This same CURVATURE offers a second level of protection against deflections of the projectile could send a fragment or bullet up into the head as seen most often in flat plates or less effective plates. Again these are STATE OF THE ART and there are none better.

• Weigh 8.5 lbs (level IV). Meaning very light weight for STAND ALONE (SAE) Protection.

• All are STAND ALONE in whatever level they protect. This means that you do NOT have to have soft body armor under the plate to achieve the level of protection. This is NEW technology which is made possible by new backing material on these plates. Sometimes called "S Glass" or other trademarked names they all do basically the same thing. The backing absorbs the shock wave / blunt trauma force which can be as lethal as the projectile. It also stops any fragments exiting the bonded area.
  • Level 4 Stand Alone Plates (SAE) signifies that as a stand alone defense it will defeat a single hit from an Armor Piercing 308 / 7.62 FMJ @ 15 feet or 2880 fps.

In-conjunction (ICW) plates are designed to stop the ballistic threat within the vest/plate matrix. Some fragments may penetrate the plate but are easily stopped by the vest worn underneath. ICW (NOT STAND ALONE) plates are made to be used WITH / IN-CONJUNCTION WITH both level II and IIIA vests. These ICW plates are lighter and less bulky than stand alone plates. Use of an ICW plate without the soft body armor may result in injury or death by blunt force trauma.

This is why we do NOT sell ICW plates.
